How to Make a Picture Background Transparent in Google Slides

To make the background of a picture transparent in Google Slides, we will use an example featuring a picture of a dog. Follow the process below:

1. Select the Picture for Editing

Click on your picture to make it active. For example, let’s select the picture of Buddy, a dog. 

2. Access Format Options for the Image

With the picture selected, first click on “Format” in the toolbar. This will reveal a dropdown menu. From there, select “Format Options.” Choosing this option will open a sidebar on the right side of the screen, which contains various settings to enhance and modify the image.

3. Adjust the Background Transparency

In the sidebar under “Format Options,” scroll to the “Adjustments” section. 

Here, you’ll find the “Opacity” slider. To make the image fully transparent, drag the slider to the left. This reduces the opacity to 0% which makes the image completely transparent and invisible.

4. Close the Format Options Panel

After adjusting the transparency to the desired level, click the “X” at the top of the Format Options panel to close it. 

We will now see the transparency effect on Buddy’s picture on the slide.
