Insert Vimeo Into Google Slides

Inserting Vimeo videos into Google Slides can be done in two effective methods: the ‘Create a Clickable Vimeo Link‘ and the ‘Insert Video from Google Drive‘ method. We will discuss each method in the following sections.

Method 1: Create a Clickable Vimeo Link

Here’s how you can put a clickable link on Google Slides from Vimeo.

1. Copy the Vimeo Video Link from the Website

Go to Vimeo and find the video you want to insert.

Once you have the video open, copy the video’s URL from the address bar at the top of your browser. You will use this link to create a clickable button in Google Slides.

2. Insert a Text Box or Shape to Use as a Video Link

Click on the slide where you want the video link to appear. Then, go to “Insert” in the top menu and select “Text box” or “Shape.”

If you choose a text box, type a label such as “Watch Video” to act as the link.

If you use a shape, it will serve as a clickable button that users can click to open the video. Choose any of the shapes in the “Shapes” section under the “Shape” drowpdown.

3. Attach the Vimeo Link to the Text or Shape

After inserting the text or shape, click on it to select it. Then, go to “Insert,” and tap “Link” or press “Ctrl + K” (Cmd + K on Mac).

In the link field that appears, paste the Vimeo URL and click “Apply.” Now, when you click on this element during the presentation, it will open the Vimeo video in a new browser tab.

4. Make the Link Stand Out for Easy Access

To ensure the link is easy to see, customize its appearance. Click on the text or shape, then use the toolbar to adjust the font size, color, or shape fill.

Method 2: Insert the Video from Google Drive

Follow the steps below to insert a Vimeo video directly from Google Drive.

1. Upload the Vimeo Video to Google Drive for Direct Playback

Open Google Drive and click “New.”

Then select “File upload.”

Select the video file from your computer, then click “Open” and wait for the upload to complete. Once uploaded, the video will be stored in Google Drive and can be inserted into your slides.

2. Insert the Uploaded Video into Google Slides

Click on the slide where you want the video to appear. Then, go to “Insert,” then click “Video” to open the video selection menu. This will allow you to choose a video from your Google Drive.

3. Select the Video from Google Drive and Insert It into the Slide

In the video selection window, click on the “Google Drive” tab. Find and select the video file you uploaded, then click “Insert” to add it to your slide. The video will now be embedded directly into your presentation.
