Google Slides Formula (The Ultimate Guide for 2025)
In this tutorial, we will show you exactly how to put formulas in Google Slides in just a few simple steps. Read on to learn more.

Insert Formula in Google Slides
Formulas in Google Slides can be added using two effective methods: ‘Using Special Characters’ and the ‘Hypatia Create Add-On.’ We will discuss how to use each method in the following sections.
Method 1: Using Special Characters
Here’s how you can insert a formula using special characters on Google Slides.
1. Open the Insert Menu and Select “Special Characters”
Click on Insert in the top menu bar. From the dropdown, select Special Characters. This will open a window where you can insert mathematical symbols.

2. Use the Search Bar to Find Mathematical Symbols
Type the name of a symbol in the search bar or browse through the available categories to locate mathematical characters. Click the “Arrow” dropdown next to the “Symbol” dropdown to sort the mathematical characters.

Choose “Math” for the mathemtical symbols.

If unsure, draw the symbol in the box.

3. Click on Symbols to Insert Them Into the Slide
Once you find the correct symbol, click on it to insert it into your slide. Let’s try to create the formula for the temperature difference. Here, we are going to insert the symbol for “Delta.”

4. Resize and Position the Symbols to Form a Complete Formula
Use the formatting tools in Google Slides to adjust the size and position of the inserted symbols so they appear as a complete mathematical equation.

Method 2: Using the Hypatia Create Add-On
Below are the steps to insert a formula using the Hypatia Create Extension on Google Slides.
1. Open the Extensions Menu and Select “Get Add-Ons”
Click on “Extensions” in the top menu bar, then select “Add-ons” and click “Get add-ons.” This will open the Google Workspace Marketplace.

2. Search for “Hypatia Create” in the Google Workspace Marketplace
In the search bar at the top, type “Hypatia Create” and press “Enter.” This add-on helps create formatted math equations.

3. Click “Install” and Follow the On-Screen Instructions
Select Hypatia Create from the search results, then click “Install.” Allow the necessary permissions to complete the installation.

4. Open Hypatia Create From the Extensions Menu
Go back to the “Extensions” menu, find “Hypatia Create,” and click on it to open the add-on. A sidebar will appear on your screen.

5. Type Your Formula in the Hypatia Create Editor
Use the provided editor to type your mathematical equation. Hypatia will automatically format it correctly. Click “Insert” to add it to your slide.

6. Check if the Formula Has Been Added to the Slide
The equation will appear on your slide as an image.

7. Resize and Move the Formula Image as Needed
Click and drag the formula to reposition it on your slide. Use the resizing handles to adjust its size.
